Dress for the weather — seriously. Late-season Bills games can be brutally cold with wind whipping off Lake Erie. Layer up, bring hand warmers, and treat the cold as part of the Bills experience rather than something to fight against. January playoff games here are legendary for a reason.
The tailgate is the main event. Abbott Road outside Highmark Stadium is one of the great tailgate scenes in the NFL. Arrive 2–3 hours before kickoff — the party outside the gates is as memorable as the game inside. Bills Mafia is welcoming to solo visitors who show up with the right energy.
Uber from downtown Buffalo. The stadium is in Orchard Park, 15 miles from downtown. Stay in Buffalo's Elmwood Village or near Canalside and rideshare to the game. Parking at and near the stadium is plentiful but the tailgate scene is better served by arriving early on foot from a rideshare drop-off.
Buffalo rewards an overnight. The city is genuinely underrated as a solo travel destination — the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the food scene along Elmwood Avenue, and the waterfront at Canalside all deserve time beyond game day. Plan for a full weekend rather than a day trip.

Early season games are genuinely hot. September and October games at Hard Rock are scorching. The canopy provides some shade but afternoon heat is real — hydrate constantly and wear light, light clothing. November onward is perfect South Florida weather for football.
Uber from South Beach or Wynwood. Hard Rock Stadium is in Miami Gardens, not South Beach or Brickell. Stay in the city and rideshare to the game — traffic on I-95 is heavy on game days but manageable if you leave early and plan your return before the final whistle.
Book the full weekend. Miami is the rare NFL city where the destination easily outweighs the game itself. South Beach, Wynwood, Little Havana, the Design District, Key Biscayne — a Dolphins game should anchor 48–72 hours minimum. Solo travelers thrive here.
Hard Rock has the best pregame playlist in the NFL. The stadium DJ and the South Florida crowd create a pregame atmosphere unlike anything in a cold-weather stadium. Arrive 90 minutes early, grab a drink on the concourse, and let the city's energy carry you in.

Take the MBTA Commuter Rail from South Station. The Providence/Stoughton Line runs special game day service directly to Foxboro Station — a 10-minute walk from Gillette. Trains fill fast; buy tickets in advance at mbta.com. Return trains depart promptly after the final whistle.
Stay in Boston, not Foxborough. Foxborough has little to offer beyond the stadium complex. Base yourself in Boston — Back Bay, the South End, Cambridge, or Beacon Hill — and take the rail out for the game. You'll come back to one of the most walkable, historically rich cities in America.
Six Super Bowl banners ring this stadium. Even in a rebuilding era, Gillette carries the weight of an unprecedented dynasty. The Hall of Patriot Greats exhibit outside is worth time before kickoff. Worth visiting as a football pilgrim as much as a Patriots fan.
New England weather requires respect. Fall games are crisp and perfect. November through January requires proper layering — New England cold is damp and penetrating. Check the forecast, dress accordingly, and the late-season atmosphere here is genuinely special.

NJ Transit from Penn Station — the only sensible option. The Meadowlands Rail Line runs directly from New York Penn Station to MetLife Stadium on game days. $6.25 each way. Trains run frequently before kickoff and depart promptly after. No car, no traffic, no stress — this is one of the best transit experiences to any NFL stadium in the country.
New York City is your city base. MetLife is in New Jersey but your entire experience before and after the game is New York. Stay in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Queens — the city does all the heavy lifting. The game is a half-day commitment; the city is the whole weekend.
Jets fans carry earned optimism. The New York Jets have been waiting for Super Bowl glory since 1969. That long wait gives every home game a particular edge — a fanbase that believes, genuinely, this might be the year. That hope is contagious inside MetLife and easy to share as a solo visitor.
Note: MetLife hosts both Jets and Giants. Check your tickets carefully — the stadium configuration and entry points differ slightly for Jets vs. Giants games.
