Driving
Lincoln Financial Field is accessible from I-95 and I-76, but match day traffic on both corridors will be severe. Stadium parking is available but must be pre-booked. Where to Eat

Philadelphia has one of the most underrated food cities in the United States — a city where the cheesesteak is the entry point, not the ceiling. Reading Terminal Market, the Italian Market, and the restaurant corridors of Rittenhouse and Fishtown make this a genuinely excellent food city for World Cup visitors.

Philadelphia Essentials
Reading Terminal Market · Downtown
Reading Terminal Market
One of the great public markets in America — operating since 1893 in a historic train shed in Center City. Pennsylvania Dutch food, DiNic's roast pork sandwiches, Bassett's ice cream, Famous 4th Street Cookie Company, and dozens of vendors. Open every day. For a city hosting Brazil, France, Croatia, and Ghana, the market's diversity of options means everyone finds something. The roast pork sandwich is Philly's actual greatest food achievement.

Cheesesteak · South Philly
Pat's vs. Geno's
Philadelphia cheesesteak is one of the most iconic regional foods in America — thinly sliced beef, melted cheese (Cheez Whiz is traditional), on an Amoroso roll. Pat's King of Steaks and Geno's Steaks face each other on the same corner in South Philadelphia, open 24 hours. A cheesesteak at 2 AM after a match is a Philadelphia rite of passage. Order: "Whiz wit" (Cheez Whiz with onions).

Italian Market · 9th Street
9th Street Italian Market
America's oldest outdoor market, operating since the 1880s — produce, cheese, meat, bread, and prepared food along 9th Street in South Philadelphia. The Italian heritage of South Philly meets the Mexican and Vietnamese communities that have joined it in recent decades. Walk it on a non-matchday morning, buy ingredients, watch the neighborhood operate. The best version of authentic Philadelphia food culture.

West African Restaurants
Ghana plays in Philadelphia — and Philadelphia has one of the strongest Ghanaian and West African communities in the United States, concentrated in West Philadelphia. For the Croatia vs. Ghana match on June 27 especially, the energy in these neighborhoods will be extraordinary. Jollof rice, egusi soup, suya, and fufu at restaurants throughout West Philadelphia. Take the Market-Frankford Line west from Center City.

Fishtown · Modern American
Fishtown Restaurant Corridor
Frankford Avenue in Fishtown has evolved into one of the best restaurant streets in Philadelphia — Suraya (Lebanese), Laser Wolf (Israeli BBQ), Wm. Mulherin's Sons (wood-fired), and dozens of others. For a proper dinner the night before a match, or for the evening after, this corridor is excellent. The neighborhood's bar scene — Frankford Hall especially — will be a watch party hub for France and Brazil matches.

Rittenhouse Dining
The streets around Rittenhouse Square — Walnut Street, Sansom Street, Locust Street — have Philadelphia's highest concentration of acclaimed restaurants: Vernick Food & Drink (James Beard Award winner), a.Kitchen, Friday Saturday Sunday. For special occasion dining between matches, this is the right neighborhood. Book tables well in advance for France and Brazil match weeks.

Don't leave Philadelphia without trying a proper roast pork sandwich at DiNic's in Reading Terminal Market. It has been named the best sandwich in America multiple times. The cheesesteak gets all the attention, but locals know what the real move is.

Fan Zones & Festival

Philadelphia's fan programme centers on the FIFA Fan Festival at Lemon Hill in East Fairmount Park — one million square feet of open space running all 39 tournament days, described by organizers as "Soccer Coachella." Plus Pennsylvania-wide fan zones in Pittsburgh, Reading, and Scranton.

01
FIFA Fan Festival™ Philadelphia — Lemon Hill, East Fairmount Park
June 11 – July 19, 2026 · All 39 tournament days
The official FIFA Fan Festival occupies Lemon Hill in East Fairmount Park — a 46-acre open space with views of the Philadelphia skyline, adjacent to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Boathouse Row on the Schuylkill River. The festival runs every day of the tournament (not just match days) with live broadcasts of all matches on large screens, 75+ local food trucks and vendors, live entertainment, interactive soccer activities, ticketed concerts, a vendor village for local makers and businesses, and cultural performances. Organizers describe the vibe as "Soccer Coachella" — a free, open, community-centered festival experience. Expect 15,000–25,000 attendees on match days. No parking available — use SEPTA. Take the PHLASH bus from Center City (new Stop 9 added at Pennsylvania and Fairmount Avenues) or SEPTA buses 32, 48, 7, and 49. Registration encouraged but not required for general admission.

Pennsylvania Fan Zones — Pittsburgh, Reading, Scranton
Throughout the tournament · Match days
Pennsylvania is extending the World Cup experience beyond Philadelphia with public watch parties in Pittsburgh, Reading, and Scranton — making this one of the more geographically distributed fan programmes of any host state. Philadelphia-based visitors don't need to travel for these, but it's worth knowing that the World Cup energy extends across the Commonwealth for any side trips.

South Philly & Fishtown Watch Parties
Throughout the tournament
South Philadelphia's Italian-American bars and Fishtown's Frankford Hall and Frankford Avenue corridor will be running informal World Cup watch parties throughout the tournament. Before You Go

Essential Tips

Ten things that will make your Philadelphia World Cup experience significantly better.

01
The Free Ride Home Is Real
After every Philadelphia World Cup match, fans receive free SEPTA rides back to Center City. This is a deliberate fan incentive and one of the best perks of any host city. Check phillyfwc26.com before each matchday for how to activate it — the mechanism may differ from match to match.
02
July 4 in Philadelphia Is Unmissable
The Round of 16 on July 4 in the birthplace of American independence is the single most historically significant match location in the entire tournament. USA250 celebrations will be citywide. If you only attend one Philadelphia match, make it this one — plan to arrive in the city mid-morning and spend the full day.
03
Book Now for Brazil and France Weeks
Brazil vs. Haiti (June 19) and France vs. Iraq/Playoff winner (June 22) are the highest-demand accommodation dates in Philadelphia's World Cup window. Both have massive diaspora communities in the city. Book immediately if you haven't already.
04
Get a SEPTA Key Card at the Airport
The SEPTA Key is accepted on all rail, subway, trolley, and bus routes. Pick one up at PHL Airport on arrival — it covers your Regional Rail ride into Center City and every subsequent transit trip including matchdays. Load it with credit via the SEPTA app.
05
Eat at Reading Terminal Market
One of America's great food markets, open since 1893, in the middle of Center City. DiNic's roast pork sandwich is frequently cited as the best sandwich in America. Bassett's has been serving ice cream here since 1861. Plan at least one meal here — ideally a non-matchday morning when it's less crowded.
06
The Fan Festival Runs Every Day
Unlike some host cities where the fan festival only operates on match days, Lemon Hill runs all 39 tournament days — including non-match days with ticketed concerts. If you have a day between matches with nothing planned, the Fan Festival is a genuine destination worth visiting on its own terms.
07
Don't Drive to the Fan Festival
Lemon Hill has no parking. The PHLASH bus (Stop 9, Pennsylvania and Fairmount Avenues) or SEPTA buses 32 and 48 are the recommended options. The PHLASH all-day pass is $5. The Fan Festival organizers specifically asked attendees not to drive — take them at their word.
08
See Independence Hall
The Declaration of Independence was signed here in 1776. For the July 4 match especially, spending time at Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and the National Constitution Center before the match is the only appropriate way to experience this particular World Cup day. These sites are free and within walking distance of Center City hotels.
09
Go to the Italian Market
The 9th Street Italian Market is the most authentic neighborhood experience in South Philadelphia — America's oldest outdoor market, operating continuously since the 1880s. Walk it on a non-matchday morning. The combination of Italian heritage and the Mexican and Vietnamese food that has joined it over the decades makes for one of the most genuinely interesting food streets in the US.
