Solo travel isn’t a consolation prize. It’s a choice.
GoingSolo.Life exists because too much travel content assumes you’re part of a couple, a family, or a group — and if you’re not, you’re somehow doing it wrong.
We disagree.
This site is built for travelers 50 and over who are done waiting for someone else to be ready. Whether you’re newly single, an empty nester, a lifelong independent, or simply someone who prefers their own itinerary, you belong here.
Who’s Behind This Site
I’m Bryan Wolfe — a travel advisor, technology journalist, and lifelong traveler based in State College, Pennsylvania.
I’ve spent 15+ years writing about technology and digital life for outlets including Yahoo, TechRadar, Digital Trends, and MakeUseOf. I hold an MBA from Bloomsburg University and a B.A. from Penn State. I’m also a certified travel advisor through Fora Travel.
I’ve cruised with Royal Caribbean, Princess, and Norwegian. I’ve traveled solo through Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and across Europe. I know what it feels like to sit at a table for one in a country where you don’t speak the language — and to love every minute of it.
I launched GoingSolo.Life because I kept noticing a gap: travel content aimed at older solo travelers that was actually honest, specific, and useful — not just repackaged advice written for 28-year-olds with gap years and Instagram accounts.
I’ve also published two books for solo travelers:
- Solo and 50+ — a practical guide to embracing independent travel later in life
- How to Avoid the Most Common Travel Mistakes in 2026 — hard-won lessons from the road
What You’ll Find Here
- 48-Hour City Guides — deeply researched, solo-focused itineraries for cities across Europe and North America, written from actual experience
- Solo Travel Safety Guides — practical, no-fluff safety resources designed specifically for travelers 50+
- Honest Travel Advice — no sponsored fluff, no paid placements disguised as editorial content
A Note on Editorial Standards
Every destination featured on GoingSolo.Life reflects genuine research or firsthand experience. When I recommend a neighborhood, a booking strategy, or a safety tip, it’s because I believe it — not because someone paid me to say it.
If something changes — a hotel closes, a neighborhood shifts — I update the content. This site is a living resource, not a set-it-and-forget-it content farm.
